The Awakening of Caleb Desnoyers
For the top QMJHL player eligible for the 2025 NHL draft, the start of the season hasn’t been easy. After missing a few games, Caleb Desnoyers managed to recover from his lackluster September and began attacking the second half of October with full force. In the past week, the center accumulated 7 points in 3 games, bringing his total to 10 points in 7 since the start of the season.
The machine is back in motion for Caleb Desnoyers, who will likely be the subject of many articles this year, focusing not only on his offensive performances but also on his defensive contributions. No one doubts the young player’s impact on the ice. He can be utilized in all situations, allowing him to contribute in any context. This versatility is his greatest strength and should lead to an early selection in the 2025 NHL Draft. Will he be in the top 10 or the top 15? His stats and consistency will likely determine that.
Michael Misa Continues His Domination
After an explosive start to the season, Michael Misa continues his reign of terror in the OHL. In the past week, he recorded 7 points, including 3 goals, for the Saginaw Spirit (6-3-1), who currently sit 3rd in their division, the best in the league. Observers were quick to adjust their evaluations of Michael Misa. It’s not that he was necessarily underestimated, but he has long been known within the draft enthusiast community.
This often leads to over-analysis, focusing too much on a prospect’s flaws while overlooking or downplaying their strengths. Michael Misa may not become a superstar in the NHL, but his value extends far beyond point production. He is a dominant forward in all aspects of the game, proving it every shift since the season began.
Zachary Morin Makes His QMJHL Debut
After leaving the USHL due to limited ice time from his coaches, Zachary Morin has found his stride in the QMJHL. The forward has made an immediate impact for the Sea Dogs, having produced in every game so far. In the past week, he recorded 6 points in 3 games, raising his total to 8 points in 5 games. His performances have greatly eased any doubts observers might have had about him.
We will see how far his offensive contribution takes him in the NHL draft rankings, as he is often overlooked when evaluating the QMJHL cohort. With the average starts of Émile Guité and Alex Huang, as well as the slight slowdown of Justin Carbonneau (slowdown being a relative term here), could Zachary Morin or a player like Bill Zonnon surprise us at the 2025 NHL Draft?
Nathan Behm Emerges for the 2025 NHL Draft
Before yesterday’s game, Nathan Behm wasn’t the most well-known prospect in the WHL. That changed a bit against the Victoria Royals when the forward put up 6 points, including 3 goals, in a 6-3 victory for the Kamloops Blazers. He now has 18 points in 11 games, with 11 goals, for a team that sits second-to-last in their division. We’ll see if the young player can maintain this momentum and demonstrate consistency, but Nathan Behm now has our attention.
